A sign from my heavenly father

Can you get a better # than this one…not counting 69, of course? I kinda have to win the race now, huh? The kicker is I registered this morning after my long run. For some reason they were handing out numbers in reverse order, so the sooner you registered, the higher your number is. I don't know if this means I got the last spot; I doubt it. Patrick was with me, but sadly the poor guy registered minutes before me and got stuck with #3. He was pretty pumped…until he saw what number I was getting. He thinks I should skip the race and would better spend my Sunday looking for a nice frame to hold this race bib. Not a bad idea.

Unfortunately, I did hear that this race can be a huge, jumbled mess. It's one of those charity runs where you're going to get like 50,000 12 minute milers running, so apparently if you're looking to run a remotely fast time (anything under 20:00, let's say), you want to be at the VERY FRONT of the starting line. If you're back at all, you'll spend most of the “race” walking slowly or at best, shuffling. Hopefully I can get pretty close to the start and avoid that misery.

As for the long run, Patrick was good company, being very patient with me as I purged all the frustrations I have with the current climate of this country during our 12ish miles. It's good to get that out of my system once in awhile, and lately my gf had to be the microphone I whined into so I'm sure she'll be happy with the reprieve.
